How does the STI Four screen work?

Once you have purchased your Better2Know Home Test online, Better2Know will send a plainly packaged testing kit to an address of your choice. The kit will contain three finger prick lancets and one small gold topped tube for blood collection, a clear container for urine collection, a pathology form, wipes and a free return envelope. Better2Know will also email you a detailed instruction leaflet, providing a step-by-step guide on how to take your respective samples. It is vital that you follow those instructions carefully. When you are done, send the samples back to Better2Know in the prepaid envelope provided.

How accurate is this screen?

At Better2Know, they take the accuracy of our tests extremely seriously, with all Home Testing pathology performed in their fully certified, UK laboratory. This screen is only appropriate to patients that have achieved a minimum incubation period of 28 days. This means that the test is most accurate at least four weeks after any potential exposure.

Is my screen confidential?

Yes, the personal details you provide will remain totally anonymous and 100% confidential. You do not have do give Better2Know your real name, and they will not inform any third parties, including your GP, of your results without consent.

When will my test kit arrive?

Orders placed before 11am, Monday to Friday, will post it out to you by first class the same day. Your discreetly packaged kit should arrive within two working days.

How will I receive my results?

Results will be ready within two working days of your sample's arrival at the CPA accredited laboratory. As soon as all your results are available, Better2Know will contact you via a method of your preference (telephone, email, SMS). In the meantime, you can access these results directly via the secure patient login area of the Better2Know website.

What if I test positive?

If you do test positive for an STI, Better2Know will conduct confirmatory testing at no further charge. They can arrange a telephone or face-to-face consultation with a doctor (there is a small additional charge for this) and, if necessary, they will refer you to a specialist service.

Please note: These tests are provided and carried out by Better2Know who will respond with the results.

FAQs about the Better2Know service

WHEN WILL YOU SEND MY KIT TO ME?

If your order is placed before 11am on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

WHY DO YOU NEED MY EMAIL ADDRESS?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. They do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why they do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

DO I NEED TO USE MY REAL NAME?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then they do not need your real name.

WHAT DOES THE KIT PACKAGING LOOK LIKE?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.
