GP & Medical Director for The Lowdown
It is a real honour to be an Ambassador for the FPA Company. I am a GP in Sheffield and enjoy working with younger patients, particularly with female and sexual problems, so I regularly make use the fantastic resources the FPA Company produce.
Alongside my NHS work, I act as Medical Director for The Lowdown, an online contraception platform and community that provides advice, reviews and shared experiences of contraception and associated side effects.
I am a strong believer in the importance of health education, and advocate for this in my role as school governor for Sheffield Girls’, a member of the Girl’s Day School Trust Charity. I also volunteer for their outreach programme by offering medically related sessions to students from schools in socially deprived areas.
Relationship and sex education, including contraception, should be taught form an early age to promote confident, safe adolescents. This is why I am such a fan of the Yasmine and Tom resources which help to navigate a tricky and vitally important aspect of the school curriculum.
